HOPE...that is what we have. Having Opportunity to Prolong Existence. Hope that we will live a long, healthy life; hope that some brilliant scientist will soon utter those seven sweet words, "We have found a cure for cancer." Take just a moment to feel the freedom. Feel it in your mind. Feel it in your soul. No more dark clouds to hover over us, constantly reminding us of our burdening affliction. Feel it. No more bracing for the other shoe to drop. Feel it. No more fearing the smallest body ache. Feel it. Freedom...hope. HOPE is what we have. Freedom is what we seek.

Those seven sweet words have not yet been uttered. It has been how many decades??? Recently, I was net surfing and found a site on Minnie Ripperton, who died from breast cancer at a young age, about 31 years ago. It was frightening to see the exact same verbage, stated 31 years ago, being spoken today, regarding the benefits of early detection, BSE's...and finding the cure, etc. My thoughts were "We are STILL saying the exact same things today!" The media could take those same 31 year old statements and parade them in the next "October Breast Cancer Awareness Month" coverages and no one would be the wiser. No one would have an inkling that it was verbage taken from 31 years ago. It is a total repetition of what is being said, today...31 years later. That is scary. It is my fear that if we don't step up to the plate, that our children will be making those same statements, 31 years from now. Sure-- it is a possibility that the disease may be manageable by that time, but what if it isn't? I have faith that it will be manageable by that time...but what if it isnt? We sit back and wait for the cure to come to us, when we should be pushing to make sure that the cure is found...period. Advocate for self. No one is going to look out for you better than you will look out for yourself. If we want change, we are going to have to take the steps to make change happen. Start to seek out, pick and choose those researchers and those studies that show great promise, but which lack the funds for human trials. FUND FOR THE CURE.

A discovery of a plant extract, derived from a rare South American plant and named SL0101, which comes from the Forsteronia Refracta plant, has been found to stop the growth of breast cancer, in the lab. The discovery has been contributed, in part, to cancer patients, who took it upon themselves to fund a crucial part of the research, to keep it going. THAT is what I am talking about. They took it upon themselves, and their efforts have now provided us with more HOPE. Researchers are planning to start testing on animals and then on human tumors in animals, with hopes of subsequent human trials.
